Barrow Green Gas exports green gas to Europe for the \u2018first\u2019 time from the UK<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

March 31, 2017<\/strong>\u00a0– Europe is receiving biomethane from the UK for the first time, green gas shipper Barrow Green Gas announced. It is being sent from the UK to Europe via the interconnector pipeline to Essent in the Netherlands. Essent, the largest energy company in the Netherlands, is importing green gas to meet growing demand in the Netherlands which cannot all be met locally.<\/p>\n

New York City\u2019s solid waste transfer costs could rise $34 million<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

March 24, 2017<\/strong> – Hitachi Zosen Corp. (HZC), Osaka, Japan, is to start its first Kompogas anaerobic digestion project in the U.S. jointly with Hitachi Zosen Inova, its wholly-owned subsidiary that\u2019s an engineering, procurement and construction contractor that specializes in energy from waste (EfW) projects based in Zurich, Switzerland.<\/p>\n

March\/April 2017, Vol. 58, No. 3, p. 39<\/strong> – In a comprehensive initiative to bring the challenge of odors to heel, Cleveland, Ohio-based Quasar energy group conducted a 10-month study of odors at six anaerobic digestion (AD) plants in Ohio that it designed, built and operates. The company, which has built 14 AD facilities in four states, evaluated technological and procedural solutions, established new practices, hired a former private detective as odor coordinator and installed a hotline. Senators urge Trump to maintain RFS point of obligation<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

March 16, 2017<\/strong> – Nearly two dozen U.S. senators have signed a letter advising President Trump not to change the federal biofuels program’s longtime compliance protocol. Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., today led 23 senators in a bipartisan letter urging President Trump to maintain the Renewable Fuels Standard\u2019s point of obligation and reject proposed changes that, they say, would upend the current system.<\/p>\n

UPS Invests More Than $90 Million In Natural Gas Vehicles And Infrastructure<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

March 15, 2017<\/strong> – UPS (NYSE:UPS) today announced plans to build an additional six compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling stations and add 390 new CNG tractors and terminal trucks and 50 liquefied natural gas (LNG) vehicles to its alternative fuel and advanced technology fleet. UPS further cements its leadership in the alternative fuel market while continuing to reduce its environmental footprint with this more than $90 million investment in natural gas.<\/p>\n

G4 Insights receives federal funds for RNG<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

March 15, 2017<\/strong> – G4 Insights has received $800,000 from the Canadian government to build an RNG demonstration plant in Edmonton. The plant, hosted by ATCO, will allow G4 Insights to test a range of forest residues and collect operational data with the goal of developing technology to convert forestry residue into renewable natural gas (RNG) that can be distributed through Canada’s natural gas pipelines.<\/p>\n

March 14, 2017<\/strong> – Cummins announced Tuesday at the Work Truck Show in Indianapolis several improvements to its lineup of midrange engines for the 2017 model year. Jeff Caldwell, Executive Director of North American Truck OEMs, says the company\u2019s market-leading B6.7 is seeing an average improvement that exceeds the program\u2019s 7 percent initial target.<\/p>\n

Weltec develops analysis procedure for biogas substrates<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

March 13, 2017<\/strong> – Together with renowned partners, the biological department of biogas specialist Weltec Biopower in Vechta, Germany, is developing a quick test for identifying inhibitors in biogas substrates. Input mass may contain substances that prevent efficient biogas production. For example, a small amount of mould is sufficient to cause such an adverse effect in silage.<\/p>\n
